About Me part 3

Everybody perceives information differently. Everybody has their own distinctive personality and unique point of view. I decided to use this post to try to explore or explain my particular POV. First and foremost, I'm a Jehovah's Witness. Everything that happens to me good or bad is viewed through my religious beliefs. I live a pretty moral life, I show respect to everyone, I'm something of a prude when it comes to sex. I always feel a little uncomfortable when I talk or hear someone talk about sex, I don't know why. Having said that, I'm pretty pessimistic and cynical about people. It's very hard for me to open up around strangers. It takes me a while to feel comfortable around new people. I'm very selective about who I associate with. If I feel good around you, then you'll have a friend for life. But the best way I can describe it is the phrase "still waters run deep." I've always been more comfortable with books and ideas than I have around people. I don't like hypocrisy or when people lie to me. I'm a levelheaded person. My friends are always calling me for advice on whatever problems they manage to get themselves into. I look serious all the time but there's an immature little kid inside. I love watching cartoons. I try to always follow The Five Minute Rule (see my post The Five Minute Rule for more info) to avoid making some really stupid decisions. I absolutely do not care what anybody thinks of me good or bad. I have a tendency to speak before I think. I'm very blunt. I use the harshest language possible to get my point across and I have no problems hurting people's feelings if it gets them to think before committing some stupidity. Ther's WAY too much of this political correctness B.S. today. I'm a big geek. I love to read and write, pay attention to politics and do my best to live a quiet and uneventful life. I like American History and Literature, Latin American Literature and Psychology. I know a lot of useless trivia. My memory is lousy for names and faces but the written or spoken word has more staying power in my head. I'm a repressed individual. Even though I'll tell you when something's bothering me or that you're being an idiot, there's a lot I keep to myself. Most of that is anger. It's very rare when I can cut loose and go wild. Another area of my life that's severely repressed is my relationships with women. I refuse to put up any type of pretense. I am who I am and if you don't like it then you can f**k off. It took me a long time to accept who I am and like myself and I will not change just to impress some woman. It's not in my makeup. Someone once said that I have a "cara de piedra" or stone face. So I'm not very approachable. I have a sarcastic sense of humor. I can hone in on someone's flaws and crack jokes about those flaws. I guess I'm an amateur insult comic. I prefer not to get too close to people but at the same time I can be very compassionate and caring. I am a massage therapist and if you're going to do that for a living you have to care about people to some extent. What bothers me the most is that I have this sense of how accomplished and good the human race can be but we never reach the heights of our potential. I have a picture in my head of how the world should be, a realization of how it is and I try to reconcile the two in order to live without violating my own set of principles. This is essentially how my mind works. Trying to strike a balance between all these opposing forces into a distinctive POV that allows me to navigate through life. Well I gotta go. Thanks for reading. Peace!
