Another Call for Impeachment
I first called for possible impeachment of George W. Bush back in April 2006. I wrote previously that "gas prices are soaring, New Orleans is still in shambles, an ongoing two front war in Afghanistan and Iraq,a possible civil war in the making on the ground in Iraq, well over 2,000 soldiers dead and many thousands wounded. What does it take for people to realize that maybe we're on the wrong path here?" I originally wrote that in April 2006 and I would like to say that things have improved but I can't because Mr.Bush is still the president. As I type this on March 22nd,2007 we are currently engaged in a civil war in Iraq, we now have over 3,000 soldiers dead and even more wounded, the federal government seems to have forgotten about New Orleans, gas prices are even higher than ever and now we are watching a brewing scandal over the recent firings of 8 U.S Attorneys for possible political reasons which could well cost U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales his job. True, in the 2006 elections the Democrats won control over both houses of Congress and Donald Rumsfeld is no longer Secretary of Defense but they have not stepped up and provided the leadership that the people elected them to provide. In the case of the fired U.S. Attorneys, the president is trying to protect his closest advisor Karl Rove and former counsel Harriet Miers at the expense of telling the people the truth. You want to know how desperate we all are for a new direction for the country? When have the presidential primaries ever started when a sitting president still has over a year and a half left in his term? People are already looking for someone, anyone that can get us out of an unnecessary war that the president and his advisors recklessly inflicted upon our country and Iraq. Incredibly poor postwar planning which resulted in an insurgency turned civil war, North Korea now may have nuclear weapons, Iran is acting with impunity in the region and our Army is very close to being broken. The arrogance, the go it alone attitude of this Administration has isolated the U.S and damaged our international credibility for God only knows how long and turned Iraq into a breeding ground for terrorists. Believe me I'm no fan of Saddam Hussein but at least under his repressive dictatorship, Iraq wasn't a breeding ground for terrorists. Only in 20,30,40 years will we know for sure what the Middle East will look like but I don't believe this country can survive if we ever have someone as dangerously incompetent as George W. Bush and his advisors attain high office again. We've got to stop this insanity before it's too late. If it isn't already.
